Activities for July 13 & 14

It has been a while since I have posted fun things to do in our community, so I decided I would do some leg work so all you have to do is decide what you can do to stay cool and/or have fun this weekend.

One thing I have not recommended, but I personally LOVE to do is go to garage sales!  I love, Love, LOVE them!  I usually find wonderful, clothes for my little boys, fun accessories for the house, great outdoor gear, and the kids always find ‘treasures’.  With the great weather that we are anticipating this weekend there should be tons of them out there.

So on to the organized activities that are available for little or no cost to you this weekend!

Movies in the park!!!

Friday, July 13th

  • 9pm there will be a showing of Jurassic Park at Esther Short Park!  FREE is a very good price!  There are many different movies in the parks events going on in the area, just search online.  I found several in Portland also.
  • Pacific Northwestern 150th Anniversary of Union Pacific  10am – 4pm (Saturday also) at the Amtrak Station 800 NW 6th Ave in Portland.  The Streamliner E9s will be on display along with the Promontory museum car.  Should be interesting for those who love trains and the railroad.  There will also be free giveaways!  Gotta love freebies!

Saturday, July 14th

  • Fun with Bubbles   1-3pm at the Water Resource Education Center.  Lots of hands on education that teaches about bubbles!  I love free learning resources!
  • StreamTeam Maintenance    8:45am – 1pm   If you are over 16 and you want to help maintain Salmon Creek watershed then this is a great free event for you.  For more information visit their website on how to get involved.   www.StreamTeam.net
  • Fourth Plain International Fest   10am – 4pm at Warrior Field.   A variety food, music, creations and organizations that represent different cultures come together to expose us to the diversity that exists in our community!  For more information on entertainment, the international dodge ball tournament & food vendors visit their website.   www.vancouverinternationalfest.com  Sounds like a GREAT time!
  • 1840’s Overnighter    visit website here   this is an activity that cost a little money, but is well worth the experience.  Introduce your children to the life of the 1840’s time at the Fort.  Historic games, lantern tour, night watch and storytelling are a few of the things you can do as a family!

As with every other post, this is not an exhausted list, just a highlight!  It is always fun to try something new!  Let us know if you know any fun events and I will put them on our Facebook page.  Have a great weekend!
