Lower my Auto Insurance! part 2

Many of you viewed the last post on lowering your car insurance premiums, so we thought we would add another installment.  Enjoy!

One way to save money is to ask your agent if you qualify for any additional discounts.  Often times there are discounts that you may not know about that you qualify for.  A knowledgeable insurance agent will be able to match you up with discounts that will lower your insurance premiums. 

Make sure you do not have duplicate coverage.  For example, if you are an AAA member, you probably have towing and roadside assistance.  In that case, you would not need towing and roadside assistance on your auto insurance policy.  Evaluate what your car insurance covers and what other coverage you have.  If you have questions, contact your insurance agent.

A very simple way to keep your insurance premiums low is to make sure you do not have a lapse in coverage.  You should pay all your premiums on time or sign up for electronic payments.  Often time you can set something up with your agent or schedule online bill pay.  This is a very EASY way to make sure your payments do not increase!

Lower my auto insurance payments! part 1

There are many ways to get lower auto insurance for most drivers, but not all of them are well-known! We are going to give you three of them today! 

First, carry both your home/renters insurance with the same company you have your auto insurance.  Why?  Most insurance carriers will give you a discount for carrying both coverages together.  Not all companies give a discount for having your renters insurance, but it is always worth asking! 

Often times, if you are older 50, you can qualify for a defensive driver discount.  What is that, you are probably wondering.  Well, it is a class that you can take to teach you to be a more aware driver, preventing accidents and becoming more courteous.  Most companies who will offer this discount will want the completed program to be approved by the National Safety Council or the Division of Motor Vehicles.  A lot of these courses are offered online and take less than a day to complete.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact us!

Over on AccountingWeb.com there was a really funny list of excuses for filing late taxes.  I thought I would share some of them with you today so if you need to use one they will be fresh on your mind! 

1. “I suffer from late filing syndrome”

4. “I was busy stocking up on blunt instruments ahead of the impending zombie apocalypse”
5. “I’m not liable to pay taxes because I’m an alien”

Interesting Accident Excuses – part 1

Have you ever used one of these excuses while explaining an accident?

~ ”An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my car and vanished.”

You Thought Your Insurance was Complex!

According to their website, the new Transition will be selling for about $279,000 and approximately 100 have already been reserved.  You will be required to have both a pilot’s license and a driver’s license, but that could take less time than waiting in the TSA lines and finding your suitcases after they went on their own trip. 

Once you bring your new flying car home, there is going to be the problem of insurance.  What do you do with a mid-flight fender-bender?  What happens if a deer jumps in the way while you are landing or taking off?  Is that an in-flight accident or a traditional claim?  There are many factors for the insurance industry to consider.  My eyes start to glaze over just contemplating the possible factors to consider! 

Terrafugia says they have considered the insurance aspect of owning one of their vehicles, and will not leave the owner high and dry trying to obtain insurance.  Though, after purchasing your flying car for the bargain price, you are looking at annual insurance premiums that could reach $60,000.  WOW!
