Car Fun Fact #2

With the current trend of smaller and smaller cars, I got to thinking.  What is the smallest car to ever go into production. 

Meet the Peel P50, produced by Peel Engineering.

 

This microcar weighs in at 130lbs.  It is 54 inches long and 41 inches wide.  A one door wonder of sorts.  The Peel sports 3 wheels and can reach speeds close to 40 mph.  This little guy can not go in reverse but, never fear, there is a handle on the back so you can pull it where you want to go.  One man even took it on an elevator!

 

As far as gas consumption goes, users and makers state that they get 100 mpg.  So, if you do not like the options that you typically see on the road, check into one of these.  You can find all you need to know at Peel Engineering.

It’s Snow Fun!

With the snow falling, or not, in the Northwest, we thought it would be fun to give you some facts about snow.  Although they are completely useless, it is always fun to impress your loved ones with your vast knowledge! 

So, did you know…

• All snowflakes have six sides?
• Snowflakes formed when ice crystals form around tiny particles of dirt
• In Prince Edward Island,Canada snowflakes often look pink due to their red clay
• Mt.Baker reported a record snowfall of 1,140 inches of snowfall for the 1998-99 ski season.
• On average a snowflake falls 3’ per second
• According to urbandictionary.com, snirt is “the stuff that piles up in parking lots and along the side of the road … during the winter.  Not quite snow, not quite dirt.”

 

As for driving in the snow, here are a few tips

1)      Don’t, if you don’t have to.

2)      Be prepared.  This includes traction devices in your car, as well as warm clothing and shoes… Just in case!

3)      Slow Down!  It is not a race to get to somewhere the fastest.  People would rather see you arrive safely then not at all!

4)      Brake BEFORE you enter a corner

5)      Pay attention to others on the road.  Even if you are comfortable driving on the snow, chances are the person next to you is not.

6)      Make sure you have your insurance agent’s phone number with you.  If there is an accident, contact your agent ASAP!
